Description

Autoclave bags are heavy-duty, heat-resistant containers designed to safely sterilize and contain biohazardous laboratory or medical waste.
Material and Construction
  • Material: Made from virgin or high molecular weight Polypropylene (PP), which withstands high steam temperatures without melting.
  • Thickness: Ranges from 1.5 mil (0.038 mm) for standard use up to 2.0 mil to 2.2 mil (0.055 mm) for heavy-duty, puncture-resistant applications.
  • Design: Often transparent or color-coded (yellow, red, or white) with strong side seams to prevent leaking under pressure.
Performance Specifications
  • Temperature Resistance: Safely handles steam sterilization up to 121°C (250°F) to 134°C (some heavy-duty blends tolerate up to 131°C–133°C).
  • Pressure Handling: Engineered to resist pressure differentials during standard 15 psi autoclave cycles.
    • Safety Features: Frequently printed with a standard biohazard warning symbol and a write-on marking panel.
    • Usage Rule: Bags should never be closed hermetically (sealed airtight) during the autoclaving cycle to allow steam penetration.
